Our story

City Eye Hospital

MAKING WORLD CLASS EYE CARE ACCESSIBLE IN EAST AFRICA

Our mission is what drives us to do everything possible to expand the access and affordability of quality eye care.

We do this through our patient-centred approach, which combines ultra-modern facilities and highly trained staff to deliver comprehensive care in the most compassionate and welcoming environment.

Founded in 2015, City Eye Hospital is devoted to providing quality eye care to all patients. Our approach, therefore, blends a walk-in Main Hospital with an Appointment Clinic. Both are conveniently located in Nairobi, with the Main Hospital on Ngong Road and the Appointment Clinic at Upper Hill Medical Centre.

What to expect

  • Patient guidance: Our staff helps make your visit at either of our two facilities as hassle-free as possible, providing an environment that allows you to ask questions and seek clarification.
  • Expert care: We have highly trained and experienced eye surgeons, supported by an equally well-trained and dedicated staff.
  • Comprehensive care: We provide the full range of eye care to ensure we can meet you at your point of need, from general eye exams to complex eye surgeries. You do not have to worry about seeking out specialists. At City Eye Hospital, you will find the eye specialist you need.

Our Mission

To provide accessible and quality eye care.

DELIVERING HEALTH & HOPE TO COMMUNITIES IN NEED

Since our Foundation’s inception in 2010, we have executed a milestone-focused and innovative community outreach programme. The programme caters to the unmet eye care needs of economically disadvantaged patients and accelerates the execution of early intervention measures in marginalised communities.

We remain steadfast and driven by one single-minded goal: eradicating preventable blindness across East Africa.

While we will not rest until preventable blindness is eradicated in the region, we take pride in the impact of the early detection and sight restoration surgeries achieved through the City Eye Hospital Foundation.

OUR FOUNDATION'S IMPACT AT A GLANCE

  • 80,000+ persons screened through our community outreach drives.
  • 10% percentage of persons screened found to have mature cataract.
  • 4,000+ persons who have had their sight restored through our free cataract surgeries.
  • 6,000+ persons living with diabetes identified at risk of going blind from diabetic eye disease and provided for with the early intervention needed to counter this.
  • An ultra-modern, camera-based diabetic equipment (Fundus Camera) commissioned for effective diagnosis of diabetic eye disease at the community level.
